The Ministry of Defence (MoD) is open for cooperation with civil society and invites the non-governmental sector to take active part in the policy planning processes and in the implementation of state administration.

The MoD has developed a permanent cooperation with the non-governmental sector in Latvia and abroad. Several projects are implemented annually with NGOs.

Projects introduced by NGOs are reviewed at the MoD Public Affairs Department and evaluated according to the current public information priorities of the MoD, the available resources and the variety of criteria related to the implementation of Latvian state policy.

In order to encourage the involvement of the non-governmental sector in the processes of defence field, the MoD regularly informs its active cooperation partners of current events and invites them to collective discussions to exchange ideas and opinions.

The cooperation between the MoD and the non-governmental sector is coordinated by the Military Public Affairs Department.
