Memorandum signed on Latvian-Canadian cooperation for military industry development
On Monday, January 19, at the Ministry of Defence of Latvia, State Secretary Aivars Puriņš and the Canadian Commercial Corporation signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen cooperation between Latvia and Canada in the field of procurement. The ceremony was also attended by Minister of Defence Andris Sprūds.
The memorandum of understanding provides for cooperation in military equipment, infrastructure, and services, establishing a foundation for the development of joint projects in the future.
Minister of Defence Andris Sprūds emphasizes that such agreements strengthen bilateral cooperation in the field of defence: “This Memorandum of Understanding establishes a structured framework for closer cooperation with Canadian partners in the military industry. It allows for the purposeful development of cooperation, while maintaining flexibility and prioritizing national interests in the evaluation of each specific project.”
The Canadian Commercial Corporation is Canada’s government to government contracting agency, which supports foreign governments in procuring Canadian-made military equipment and defence-related solutions, thereby strengthening overall cooperation.
