National Armed Forces Industry Day to take place in Rēzekne

On Sunday, September 6, the National Armed Forces Industry Day will take place in Rēzekne, on the shores of Lake Kovšu. Visitors will have the opportunity to see in person nearly 70 military and dual-use products and solutions developed by Latvian companies. The event will also be attended by Minister of Defence Raivis Melnis and Commander of the Latvian National Armed Forces, Major General Kaspars Pudāns.

"Latvia’s defence industry is an essential component of our country’s defence capabilities. We have companies capable of developing innovative and competitive solutions to meet the needs of both the National Armed Forces and our allies. Industry Day provides an opportunity to see the achievements of Latvian companies in one place, promote cooperation between industry and the armed forces, and show the wider public how our own companies contribute to Latvia’s security,” emphasises Minister of Defence R. Melnis.

The event will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on the shore of Lake Kovšu, near the Rēzekne-1 railway station. At 10:00 a.m., the event will open with ceremonial addresses by officials. Visitors will then be able to explore products and technologies developed by Latvian companies, learn how solutions developed by the local industry strengthen the country’s defence capabilities, view equipment used by the National Armed Forces and allied forces, and watch demonstrations prepared by industry representatives.

The event is organised by the Ministry of Defence in cooperation with the State Centre for Defence Logistics and Procurement and the National Armed Forces.

Important Information for Residents

Residents of Rēzekne and visitors to the city are advised that Ezera street will be closed during the event between its intersection with Dzintara street and Ezera street 4. The traffic restrictions will be in effect from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Attention Media Representatives

Media representatives are invited to attend the National Armed Forces Industry Day on Sunday, September 6, at 10:00 a.m. at Lake Kovšu in Rēzekne. Please arrive by 9:45 a.m. Due to traffic restrictions, we recommend parking your vehicles near the Rēzekne Recreation Centre or Rēzekne Secondary School No. 4. Meeting point: the intersection of Ezera and Dzintaru streets.

At 10:00 a.m., the event will be officially opened with addresses by Minister of Defence Raivis Melnis and Minister of Economics Viktors Valainis. Following the opening ceremony, media representatives will have an opportunity to visit the stands of defence industry companies. From 11:40 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., demonstrations of air, land and maritime drones will take place.
