Light infantry capabilities

National Guard are the largest unit of the National Armed Forces. It is the fundamental element of territorial defence. Project will support the development of NAF light infantry capabilities, while also contribute to forming of high-readiness units.

Project intends to acquire specific personal and collective protective equipment, including weapons of various type and calibre, communications equipment, ammunition, surveillance and fire control equipment, and other items.

Forming of the high-readiness National Guard units began in 2015. These units consist of most-experienced and active National Guard troops. The first phase of high-readiness unit training was completed in 2018. The first phase included exercises testing the readiness of sections across battalions, and the next phase focused on development of company-size units in these battalions. These units needed special equipment and qualified professionals, which makes the development of these units one of the main priorities of the National Guard in the next years.

“Namejs 2023” – military training in 2023 – tested how well units have handled their medium term goals. Project will last until the end of 2027.
