Shortwave radio transmission system

The goal of the project is to establish, within the framework of the NAF overall command and control capabilities, a shortwave radio communication system that would provide a ship-to-shore-to-ship data exchange system in the shortwave band.

On 12 January 2023, Ministry of Defence and NATO Communications and Information Agency signed project management, international procurement and purchase contract supervision agreement. This project is co-funded by NATO Security Investment Programme and will indicatively be completed by 2030.

In 2025, a contract was signed for the development of a design for the construction of the system’s infrastructure. The construction design is scheduled to be completed in 2026.
