Latvia will soon send Ukraine the first batch of unmanned aerial vehicles organized by the state in cooperation with local industry. This is the first significant contribution of Latvia in the framework of the coalition.

“We are moving towards Latvia being active in both leadership of the drone coalition, and drone deliveries to Ukraine. I sincerely thank Latvian manufacturers for supplying drones for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. This is just the beginning, as we, in cooperation with local companies, prepare for future shipments,” notes A. Sprūds.

Latvia will spend at least 10 million euro each year to supply Ukraine with drones. By signing the Letter of Intent, members of the Drone Coalition have agreed to commit resources to drone production, carry out deliveries of drones and spare parts to Ukraine, as well as to implement drone testing, troop training and develop other technical solutions.

On April 12, A. Sprūds held a weekly remote meeting of the Latvian-led drone coalition, which was also attended by the new member state of the coalition - Poland. After the meeting, the Minister of Defence informed Ukraine that drones manufactured in Latvia and adapted for the battlefield are being prepared for shipment.

So far, 14 countries have announced their participation in the Drone Coalition – Latvia, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland and Sweden. More countries may join in the future.
